Choni Shippers Bully Riverdale‘s Showrunner Over Musical Episode

A deleted scene from last week’s special musical episode of Riverdale has fans demanding why the scene was cut from the show.

Last week, we saw the Riverdale High School students take on Carrie: The Musical and show off their singing abilities and we were super impressed with the cast. We knew that KJ Apa was musically inclined and that Casey Cott would be super talented due to his musical background, but we had no clue that the other actors were such triple threats!

On the episode, we got a ton of music-filled scenes, as well as moments that furthered along the plot. Although the episode was more of a distraction to what was actually going on in the town of Riverdale, it did have some seriously intense moments, like when *SPOILER ALERT* the Black Hood returned and completely ruined the musical in the most gruesome way.

We have to admit that we were way more entertained by this episode than we thought we would be, and other fans agreed… until, of course, they realized that a crucial scene was left on the chopping block. When the soundtrack to the episode was released, people were quick to realize there was a duet by Madelaine Petsch and Vanessa Morgan (a.k.a. Cheryl Blossom and Toni Topaz a.k.a. our new fave OTP, Choni).

The song in question was “You Shine” from Carrie: The Musical, but the problem was that it wasn’t actually incorporated into the episode at all! It didn’t take long for fans to realize that a scene between the new couple was left out, and they promptly demanded its release by essentially bullying showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa on social media.

Roberto received tons of tweets and messages pleading for the Choni scene, and some of them are pretty damn funny:

Fans even went as far as to create a petition in order to see the song on TV, and their efforts eventually proved worthy when Roberto finally caved and posted the scene:

This moment is not only incredibly sweet — it’s also pretty significant to Cheryl and Toni’s relationship. Even though we’re sad it didn’t make the final cut, we’re glad that we have it now!
