Rihanna Says She and Drake “Don’t Have a Friendship” Anymore

When Drake presented Rihanna the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards, he confirmed what people had been speculating about for years. The Canadian rapper said in front of hundreds of his fellow musicians, “She’s someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22 years old,” and then proceeded to go in for this kiss, which she rejected. #AWKWARD

Now, almost two years later, the 30-year-old says the speech was “uncomfortable,” but probably not for the reason you’d expect.

“Waiting through that speech was probably the most uncomfortable part,” she tells Vogue magazine. “I don’t like too many compliments; I don’t like to be put on blast.”

We’re not sure if the compliment-filled speech caused it, but sadly RiRi also admits to the mag that she and the 31-year-old are no longer friends.

She explains, “We don’t have a friendship now, but we’re not enemies either. It is what it is.”

Ugh, that’s actually really sad! No matter if they dated or not, Drake and Rihanna’s friendship was special and went way back, and it’s sad to see two people who have so much history together go their separate ways.
