Pete Davidson Slams Trolls Who Say He Can’t Date Ariana with Mental Illness

By  |

Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande seem like they’re getting close to going public with their rumored relationship, but Internet trolls definitely aren’t helping the cause. Some people suggested that since the Saturday Night Live comedian suffers from Borderline Personality Disorder, he is not fit to date the “No Tears Left to Cry” singer, even though he gets treatment for it. The suggestion that someone who suffers from a mental illness can’t have a successful relationship is honestly absurd and so far from the truth and we don’t blame the 24-year-old for sticking up for himself.

“Just because someone has a mental illness does not mean they can’t be happy and in a relationship,” he wrote in a since-delete Instagram story. “It also doesn’t mean that person makes the relationship toxic.”

He continued, “I just think it’s f*cked up to stigmatize people as crazy and say that they are unable to do stuff that anyone can do. […] I’m simply writing this because I want everyone out there who has an illness to know that it’s not try and that anyone who says that is ill and full of sh*t. Mental illness is not a joke it’s a real thing.”

So true.
