Pete Davidson Denies Giving Ex-GF Late Father’s Necklace Before Ariana Grande
If you’ve been following Pete and Ariana’s relationship closely, you probably know alllll about the photo he shared of the singer wearing his late father’s FDNY badge around her neck on Saturday. Pete’s father was a New York City firefighter who died in the attacks on 9/11, so, understandably, the necklace holds a special place in his heart.
Unfortunately, when Pete shared the photo, it raised more than a few eyebrows. Some people thought it was disrespectful for Ari to be wearing his dad’s badge, while others pointed out that it appeared to be the same necklace he gave to his ex, Cazzie David, around five months before they split. Despite what it looked like, though, Pete reassured the haters that the necklace he gave Cazzie back when they were dating was actually not the same one he recently gave to Ari.
When several fans called him out on re-gifting the necklace, Pete explained that the one he gave Cazzie was a replica, whereas the one he gave Ariana was actually the real thing:
“@iamcharicehughes actually i didn’t give that to my ex. yes she had one but it was a replica. i had a bunch of replicas made. my sister and grandpa also have one. the one that ari has is the one my dad actually died in and the one [he] wore his entire career and the one i’ve worn for over 17 years. i’ve actually never taken it off other than for snl or work. so it means a lot to me. hope this helps. please learn to be nicer and not to assume the worst in people. it’s a terrible way to live. much love”
So, it turns out the fans were wrong on this one. Ariana seems to be the first girl he’s given the original necklace to, so if that isn’t a sign that their relationship is the real deal, we don’t know what is!
