Ariana Fans Slam Pete Davidson for “Inappropriate” Instagram Comment

Yesterday marked four years since Ariana Grande‘s beloved grandpa’s passed away. Frank Grande meant a ton to the “God is a Woman” singer and she honored him with a sweet message on Instagram on the fourth anniversary of his death.

“Miss n love u forever my best friend #4years,” she captioned a picture of the pair in a hospital bed.

Fiancé Pete Davidson was quick to jump in the comments section, like he does on almost every single photo AG shares on Insta.

“Omg what a cutie,” he simply wrote.

People saw this and didn’t find it cute, however, as they thought he was referring to Ari’s appearance, which, yes, would be incredible inappropriate for the nature of the pic. But, as it turns out, the backlash he faced was completely undeserved, as he was actually calling her late grandfather cute.

“Are you guys all insane?” he fired back. “I was talking about how cute her grandpa is. What’s wrong with that? You guys will really look for anything to attack people. It’s sad.”

The Saturday Night Live star was also recently criticized for giving Ariana his deceased dad’s NYFD badge to wear around her neck. Pete’s father was a New York City firefighter who died in the attacks on 9/11, so, understandably, the necklace is incredibly special.

After someone commented that it was “so disrespectful” for a “girl [to] wear your dad’s chain,” the 24-year-old responded, “For ur information that’s not just some girl. That’s my fiancé [sic]. She’s the greatest person I know. I gave it to her because she has my heart and that is the most precious thing I own. My dad would be so happy and love her so much.”
