Why People Think Perrie Edwards Lied About Zayn Malik Text-Message Breakup
Doesn’t matter that Perrie Edwards & Zayn Malik‘s infamous split went down over a year ago, ’cause the latest details just keep getting juicier and juicier.
According to the 23-year-old Little Mix crooner, “It was horrible, the worst time of [her] life. A 4-year relationship, 2-year engagement ended by a simple text message. Just like that.” This, of course, led people to look back at what the 23-year-old former One Direction hottie said about the text-message rumors.
“If you could word it exactly this way, I’d be very appreciative,” he told Fader magazine. “I have more respect for Perrie than to end anything over text message. I love her a lot, and I always will, and I would never end our relationship over 4 years like that. She knows that, I know that, and the public should know that as well. I don’t want to explain why or what I did. I just want the public to know I didn’t do that.”
So, it’s a bit of a he-said, she-said sort of situation. And now, because of one of LM’s latest interviews, people are starting to believe more of what he said.
During a Q&A with Heart London’s breakfast radio show, Perrie was prompted as to her lowest ex moment. “I was at the airport and I got an awful phone call, erm, from someone,” she said. “And then… I just… what did I…? I just remember screaming in the airport.”
“She had a little mini breakdown in the airport,” Jade Thirlwall explained. “And it was in the security line and so we thought, ‘Oh god.'”
Leigh-Anne Pinnock added, “We literally just made a little shell huddle around her so that no one could see her and we were like, ‘It’s okay, just let it out.'”
“I was like a women possessed! It was awful! It just bubbled and bubbled and I thought I was going to explode,” Perrie continued. “I was either going to get put back on a flight back to the UK or put in a straitjacket!” (The ladies were in the US at the time of the call.)
Did you notice the issue? “I was at the airport and I got an awful phone call, erm, from someone.” Not a text message, a phone call. Naturally, the Internet went into a frenzy:
@teen have you seen the new LM interview Perrie changed her story and said it was a phone call, so who is the liar?

While she never said Zayn’s name, it’s obvious she’s referring to him, considering he’s the only known guy she broke up with while a part of Little Mix, so we’ll give the speculators that. HOWEVER, she didn’t say that he broke up with her during that phone call. Maybe he put her down somehow, maybe he told her he cheated on her — NO ONE KNOWS. So, we, as part of the general public, can’t say who’s not telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. If what she said is true, then he’s a liar. If what he said is true, then she’s a liar. That’s all we’re sayin’, people.
Of course, Perrie Edwards isn’t the only celebrity who was broken up with over the phone:
