The Originals Cast Mourns the Shocking Death of One of Their Own
This is so sad. It was just two years ago that Owiso Odera played Papa Tunde on three episodes of The Originals, and now he’s tragically dead.
Last Thursday, the 43-year-old was in Kentucky rehearsing for a show when he suddenly collapsed on stage. Despite their greatest efforts, medical professionals weren’t able to revive him and he passed away just minutes later. The cause of the man’s tragic death is currently unknown.
“We are devastated by his demise,” Owiso’s half-brother Peter Oruka Odera told a Kenyan newspaper. “It is like a bad dream. I haven’t come to terms with the news of his death. This is unbearable.”
Although he only guest-starred on a few episodes of The Originals, the cast and crew are still severely shaken by his sudden passing and took to social media to remember him.
A truly gifted actor, and a really lovely man. Rip X https://t.co/aGVNsbH6xz

The death of #OwisoOdera is a tragedy. I only spent one short ep with him but we in the OGs family have talked about Papa Tunde ever since.

We've had a lot of guest star characters on The Originals in four seasons. Josh included. Papa Tunde was easily my favorite. RIP Owiso Odera

Owiso leaves behind a wife, Nicole Comp, and many friends and family. Our thoughts are with them all at this incredibly difficult time.
These celebrities unfortunately know what Owiso’s brother is going through right now, as they also lost a sibling:
