11 Oscar-Winning Actors Who Were Accused of Misconduct
Hollywood’s biggest night is coming up this weekend, guys: OSCAR NIGHT. So you can bet that we’re bracing ourselves for some amazing red-carpet fashion, praise for some great movies and awards for some great actors. And, considering it’s the 90th Annual Academy Awards, we’re sure we’ll be in for some big surprises, especially by host Jimmy Kimmel.
The one thing we’re not as excited for, though, is the award for Best Actor. Don’t get us wrong, each of the five men nominated — Daniel Day-Lewis (Phantom Thread), Timothée Chalamet (Call Me by Your Name), Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out), Denzel Washington (Roman J. Israel, Esq.) and Gary Oldman (Darkest Hour) — is talented AF. But we’re not exactly looking forward to another moment like last year’s Best Actor win, which could definitely happen.
In 2017, Casey Affleck won the coveted trophy, despite accusations of misconduct. And, as previously mentioned, Gary Oldman’s up for the same trophy this year… and if you look at his history, he’s got plenty of misconduct allegations of his own. Considering he won the SAG Award and the Golden Globe for his work in Darkest Hour, it seems like history will repeat itself.
But we’ll hold our heads up high for now. After all, there’s been a lot of progress in the industry following the Harvey Weinstein scandal and the #MeToo movement, so the Academy will do the right thing… Right? Guess we’ll have to see on Sunday. Until then, check out 10 Oscar-winning actors, including Casey Affleck, who were accused of misconduct:
