The Truth Behind the One Direction Split Rumors That Have Fans Panicking

By  |

Although the boys of One Direction have been adamant that their break is not permanent and they will be back making music together eventually, we all know how well those claims have worked out for bands of the past. *cough* Destiny’s Child *cough* And while Directioners everywhere are already counting down the days until Niall, Harry, Liam and Louis reunite, it seems that they may be waiting for a loooooooon time, ’cause according to Us Weekly, the group chose “not to renew their recording contract [with Syco]” and are breaking up for good.

“The 1D thing just ran its course,” a source close to the band explained to the magazine. “They’ll remain friends, but they are exhausted and want solo careers.”

As for what the One Direction boys plan to do on their own? “Liam is really interested in songwriting and production, Harry is launching a career in acting and singing,” and Louis wants to focus on the upcoming birth of his first child, another source said.

But while the tabloid is holding true to their claims that 1D has no plans to return from their “break,” the band’s rep told Gossip Cop that the rumors of a permanent split are “not true” and an eventual reunion is still in the cards. As Niall told Entertainment Tonight back in November, 1D’s break is a time for them “to see our friends and see our family and reflect on what we’ve done over the last few years.”

WHEW. That was a close one. Do you think the boys will actually come back or is One Direction over for good? Tell us your thoughts below!
