The Bachelor’s Nick Viall and Vanessa Grimaldi Call Off Their Engagement

Nick Viall and Vanessa Grimaldi won’t be joining the small list of couples from The Bachelor/Bachelorette who actually made it work after the show ended. The celebrities announced earlier today that they have decided to end their engagement and break up.

“It’s with a great amount of heartbreak for the both us as we have decided to end our engagement,” the formerly engaged pair told E! News in a joint statement. “We gave this relationship our all and we are saddened that we did not get the fairy-tale ending we hoped for. We will continue to be there for each other no matter what. This hasn’t been an easy decision, however, as we part ways, we do so with lots of love and admiration for each other.”

Fans watched as the 36-year-old got down on one knee and asked the 29-year-old to marry him on the season 21 finale of The Bachelor just over five months ago. Vanessa was always a bit skeptical on the show, constantly thinking about the practical side of their relationship (as anyone should), but ultimately decided to accept the man’s proposal.

While the girl is from Montreal, Canada, and the guy is from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, they made Los Angeles their temporary home in the months following the engagement.

Nick explained earlier this summer, “We’re just not really spending a lot of time apart. She’s spending a lot of time out here in L.A. and we’ll keep doing that.”

The duo always planned to take their time walking down the aisle, saying that it’s “always important to take things slow.”

“We’re very open about the fact that we have a long way to go and we’re excited about that journey,” Nick said during his Dancing With the Stars run.

Another Bachelor couple bites the dust — ~shocking~.
