One of Your Favorite Musical.ly Stars Emotionally Comes Out as Gay
Like many people, Nick Horton is excited about starting fresh in a new year and getting the chance to put the past behind him. The musical.ly star is especially looking forward to what 2017 will bring because he no longer is hiding something that’s been weighing heavy on his heart for years — his sexuality.
“I’m just tired of living my life as a lie. I want to be true to myself and more importantly you guys,” he said in a recent YouTube video. “So therefore, I wanted to let you guys know that I’m gay. I can’t apologize for being myself, but I just want to say sorry that I didn’t tell you guys sooner. I was very worried about what you guys would think of me and I don’t want you guys to hate me at all; that is my worst fear in the world.”
While the 17-year-old was obviously anxious about opening up to his social media followers about liking boys, he says telling his parents was the “craziest thing” he ever had to do because he was scared they “weren’t going to love [him] the way they used to.” Fortunately, Nick’s mom and dad were “completely fine with it” and were proud of him for being honest.
Nick “never wanted to be gay,” but after he broke up with his girlfriend in 6th grade he slowly started to accept his sexuality and eventually got to a point where he’s comfortable being himself.
“Don’t let anyone tell you who you can or can’t be with. It’s your life and it’s your decision,” he emotionally concluded.
