Two New Harry Potter Books Are Being Released This Fall. Accio Freakout!

Harry Potter fans, rejoice! Two new Harry Potter books are coming this fall! But before you bust out the Butterbeer and theorize about what adventures Harry, Hermione and Ron will go on next, know that these books won’t exactly extend the storyline that you love so much. That being said, if you’re a super-fan who loves to nerd out over the entire Wizarding World in general, then these books will have you hitting that pre-order button faster than you can say Accio new Harry Potter books!

One of the books is a companion piece to the British Library’s new exhibition, A History of Magic. The book will be displayed at the exhibition and is aptly titled, Harry Potter: A History of Magic. The book’s October 20th release will coincide with the 20th anniversary of the first Harry Potter book.

A History of Magic is described as a “fascinating exploration of magical history.” The British Library enlisted experts to weigh in on various magical topics, calling it a collaboration between Bloomsbury, J.K. Rowling and “the brilliant curators of the British Library.” The book will mix the histories of the muggle world and the Wizarding World over its 256 pages, and will place “J.K. Rowling’s magical inventions alongside their cultural and historical forebears.” As a bonus, A History of Magic will also feature exclusive content such as manuscripts, sketches and illustrations from the Harry Potter archive. It may not be more of Harry, Ron and Hermione, but it will definitely give some more in-depth context for all you diehard fans.

If A History of Magic doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, you might be more excited for the second book, titled Harry Potter: A Journey Through a History of Magic. More of a Hogwarts textbook, A Journey Through a History of Magic will cover subjects such as Astronomy and Herbology, along with more practical subjects like Defense Against the Dark Arts. Anyone who’s ever dreamed of taking Wizarding 101 in college, this is the book for you!

Both books are set to be released on October 20, 2017, and can be pre-ordered via the British Library Shop or through Amazon UK.
