Netflix CEO Defends Decision to Bring 13 Reasons Why Back for Season 3
The news that 13 Reasons Why, season 3 will return for season 3 was met with excitement from some and disdain from others. The Netflix hit is incredibly controversial due to its graphic nature and some people think it’s potentially harmful and shouldn’t be given more episodes.
Netflix CEO Reed Hastings, however, defends the streaming service’s decision to move forward with 13RW, season 3, and reminds those who are upset that they don’t have to watch.
“13 Reasons Why has been enormously popular and successful,” he said during the company’s annual shareholder meeting. “It’s engaging content. It is controversial. But nobody has to watch it.”
While there are definitely people out there who are not thrilled that 13 Reasons Why has been renewed for another season, the cast is pretty darn excited. Dylan Minnette, who plays Clay Jensen, tweeted a funny anecdote about finding out the news.
“My mom woke me up this morning screaming about this and scared the sh*t out of me but ya season 3 here we go,” he wrote.
We’re not sure if Katherine Langford (Hannah Baker) will be coming back for the third season, but based on the fact that she already said goodbye to the character, we think the answer is probably no.
