Naya Rivera Arrested for Domestic Battery After Alleged Altercation

Naya Rivera and Ryan Dorsey recently made headlines for calling off their divorce, and now they’re back in the news for a much more somber reason. The former Glee star was arrested and charged with misdemeanor domestic battery after she allegedly got into an altercation with the 34-year-old over their child and struck him on the face and head multiple times.

The incident happened on Saturday, November 25, in Chesapeake, West Virginia, where the pair was celebrating Thanksgiving with their 2-year-old son, Josey. Local news reporter Kalea Gunderson, who was in the courtroom while the 30-year-old was arraigned, stated that “Ryan Dorsey told police she struck him in the head and bottom lip when they were on a walk with their child.” Ryan also allegedly had video footage of the attack and was able to show police when they arrived on the scene at around 9:30 p.m.

Sgt. Brian Humphreys of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office explained, “I can just say that there was enough in the video to corroborate the statement of the video and that was why the decision was made that was made. There was some independent corroboration for what he said happened.”

Naya was later released on a $1000 PR bond and picked up by her father-in-law.

The actors shocked everyone when they got married in July 2014, just a few months after the brunette called off her engagement with Big Sean. The surprise ceremony was extra controversial because it reportedly took place on the same date she was supposed to marry the rapper.

We do not know what the actress’ punishment will be, if any.
