2012 MTV Movie Award Nominations Announced

Nominees for the 2012 MTV Movie Awards and this year is full of, well, pretty much the same people that are nominated every year.  Yes, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 are both up for multiple awards with Breaking Dawn snagging two nominations and the final Harry Potter film managing six.  In an effort to be more mainstream, the annual awards show is changing things up a bit and having several of the awards being voted on by a panel of industry experts rather than the general public.  Perhaps one of the reason Breaking Dawn only managed to get nominations for Movie of the Year and Best Kiss.  It doesn’t …

‘The Hunger Games’ Returning To Imax Theaters

The global sensation The Hunger Games has brought in over $530 million at the worldwide box office and held the top spot at U.S. theaters for the past four weeks.  It may about to get its biggest competition this weekend with new releases The Lucky One and Think Like A Man, but that’s not stopping select Imax theaters from bringing it back into the large screen format for a limited one week engagement.  The film will arrive starting April 27th on over 100 Imax digital theaters.

‘The Hunger Games’ Overload

With fifty days left until the release of The Hunger Games, news on the film is at an all-time high.  First, Lionsgate has released the new trailer for the film that will air Sunday during the Super Bowl pre-show.  Along with the release of the trailer, Lionsgate has also announced a new contest that will take place across fifty websites.  Fans can search for #HungerGames50 on Twitter for a chance to win tickets to the World Premiere of the film on March 12th in Los Angeles.

‘The Hunger Games’ Fans Reveal New Poster

In celebration of the fact that there are only 100 days left until the release of The Hunger Games March 23rd, Lionsgate enlisted the throngs of fans of the series to take part in an online scavenger hunt to reveal the new poster for the film.  Puzzle pieces featuring images of the poster were sent to 100 sites that distributed them via Twitter using the #HUNGERGAMES100 hashtag.  Mere hours later @JOHNSHOWARD tweeted a photo of the completed poster and a short time later, the new poster appeared on The Hunger Games Facebook page.  Check out the full poster below and let us know what you think.

Composer Danny Elfman Exits ‘The Hunger Games’

According to our friends at Variety, Composer Danny Elfman is leaving Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games due to scheduling conflicts, but not to worry, the flick will not be scoreless.  Elfman has been replaced by James Newton Howard who is responsible for composing scores for such films as The Dark Knight and I Am Legend.  It was previously reported that Danny Elfman would be teaming with T Bone Burnett to collaborate on the score.  Burnett will continue with his role in the film and serve as the film’s executive music producer.

The Hunger Games is directed by Gary Ross and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Hemsworth and Woody Harrelson and will released on March 23rd of next year!
