The global sensation The Hunger Games has brought in over $530 million at the worldwide box office and held the top spot at U.S. theaters for the past four weeks.  It may about to get its biggest competition this weekend with new releases The Lucky One and Think Like A Man, but that’s not stopping select Imax theaters from bringing it back into the large screen format for a limited one week engagement.  The film will arrive starting April 27th on over 100 Imax digital theaters.

The New York Giants taking down the New England Patriots weren’t the only things people were tuning in for yesterday during this year’s Super Bowl.  One of the highlights of the event has become the ads and specifically the big movie trailer we get to see.  Some of the highlights included spots from The Avengers, The Dictator, John Carter and Battleship.  Check out some of the spots below and tell us which was your favorite.

With fifty days left until the release of The Hunger Games, news on the film is at an all-time high.  First, Lionsgate has released the new trailer for the film that will air Sunday during the Super Bowl pre-show.  Along with the release of the trailer, Lionsgate has also announced a new contest that will take place across fifty websites.  Fans can search for #HungerGames50 on Twitter for a chance to win tickets to the World Premiere of the film on March 12th in Los Angeles.

With The Hunger Games release just around the corner, Lionsgate has released the final poster for the film.  Based on the best-selling book by Suzanne Collins, the film stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Wes Bentley, Toby Jones, Alexander Ludwig, Isabelle Fuhrman, Amandla Stenberg, Stanley Tucci and Donald Sutherland.

In celebration of the fact that there are only 100 days left until the release of The Hunger Games March 23rd, Lionsgate enlisted the throngs of fans of the series to take part in an online scavenger hunt to reveal the new poster for the film.  Puzzle pieces featuring images of the poster were sent to 100 sites that distributed them via Twitter using the #HUNGERGAMES100 hashtag.  Mere hours later @JOHNSHOWARD tweeted a photo of the completed poster and a short time later, the new poster appeared on The Hunger Games Facebook page.  Check out the full poster below and let us know what you think.

With the end of the year upon us, theaters are crowded with family-friendly fare and film’s hoping to garner Oscar recognition.  March may seem a long way off, but one of the most anticipated movies of next year will soon be landing at a megaplex near you.  To quench your thirst for The Hunger Games over the next few month, Lionsgate has released several new pics from the upcoming film.  The Hunger Games stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Wes Bentley, Toby Jones, Alexander Ludwig, Isabelle Fuhrman, Amandla Stenberg, Stanley Tucci and Donald Sutherland.

According to our friends at Variety, Composer Danny Elfman is leaving Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games due to scheduling conflicts, but not to worry, the flick will not be scoreless.  Elfman has been replaced by James Newton Howard who is responsible for composing scores for such films as The Dark Knight and I Am Legend.  It was previously reported that Danny Elfman would be teaming with T Bone Burnett to collaborate on the score.  Burnett will continue with his role in the film and serve as the film’s executive music producer.

The Hunger Games is directed by Gary Ross and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Hemsworth and Woody Harrelson and will released on March 23rd of next year!

In a recent interview, Lionsgate executives revealed that The Hunger Games is their most expensive film ever produced and following a slew of films they had hope had franchise potential failed to make a dent at the box office, the studio is relying on the film to be a success in order to pull them out of their slump.  Despite this pressure, Lionsgate is confident the film will be a huge success and will reach its goal of at least $100 million in tickets sales in order to assure the planned 3 or 4 films will happen.
