Jacob (Mads Mikkelsen) works at a woefully under-financed orphanage in Bombay. Devoted to the children, and desperate for funds, he is compelled to return to his native Denmark for the first time in over twenty years, to pursue a potential donation from Jorgen (Rolf Lassgard), a wealthy entrepreneur. Upon his arrival in Copenhagen, Jacob is invited to attend the wedding of Jorgen’s favorite daughter. At the ceremony Jacob unwittingly walks headlong into his past. Susanne Bier together with Anders Thomas Jensen developed their story as a natural extension of their previous collaborations, the award-winning and critically acclaimed “Open Hearts” and “Brothers.” The film was produced by Sisse Graum Jorgensen; executive produced by Peter Aalback Jensen and Peter Garde; edited by Pernille Bech Christensen and photographed by Morten Søborg. The film was made on location in Denmark and India.
