‘Game of Thrones’ Star Natalie Dormer Cast as Cressida in ‘Mockingjay’ Sequels
We're a longggg way away from seeing Mockingjay hit the big screen, but we've already got ourselves some casting news! The official Hunger Games Twitter announced that Game of Thrones actress Natalie Dormer will be taking on the role of Cressida in the highly-anticipated sequels.
They tweeted: "It’s official! Please welcome Natalie Dormer as Cressida to the cast of @TheHungerGames: Mockingjay Parts 1&2" along with a photo of the beautiful 31-year-old actress.
In case you need a refresher on who exactly Cressida is, the Hunger Games Wiki page entry reads: "Cressida is a resident director from the Capitol who joined the rebellion along with her camera crew Castor and Pollux as well as her assistant Messalla, who had also joined the rebellion, to District 13 when they fled the Capitol. Cressida was told by Plutarch to follow Katniss throughout her journeys in the rebellion so they could make numerous propos across Panem to encourage strength and morale in the rebels."
In addition to her high-profile role on the hit HBO show Game of Thrones, she also starred in the 2011 Madonna-directed film W.E. as well as Captain America: The First Avenger.
This is pretty exciting news! We can't wait to see who they cast as President Coin! There was talk of Julianne Moore taking on the role, but nothing is official quite yet. Mockingjay Part I hits theaters on November 21, 2014, while Mockingjay Part II will bow on November 20, 2015.
