Why Miley Cyrus Stayed in the U.S.A. After Donald Trump Became President
Don’t expect Miley Cyrus to pack up her things and leave the country any time soon, even though that’s what she said she was going to do if Donald Trump became President of the United States. Back in March of 2016, the 24-year-old shared an emotional Instagram post where she wrote, “Honestly f*ck this sh*t. I am moving if this is my president! I don’t say things I don’t mean!” A pretty bold statement, right?
Fast forward to a year later and Miley is STILL here in the U.S.A. (obviously), despite the fact that she basically promised she was going to leave. The “Younger Now” singer recently chatted with NME and revealed exactly why she decided to stay in Trump’s America, despite her previous words. She actually admitted that it was dumb of her to make those claims when she herself knows she has a duty to make sure her voice will be heard.
“I’m not f*cking leaving the country,” she said. “That’s some ignorant sh*t, that’s dumb. Because that’s me abandoning my country when I think I’ve got a good thing to say to my country.”
Miley went on to reveal that Internet trolls constantly bully her and ask when she’s leaving
“I hear every day on my Instagram, ‘Just leave already! When are you going to leave?’ Well, that’s not going to be any good,” MiCy continued. “Does it really matter where I am? Because wherever I am, my f*cking voice is gonna be heard, and I’ll make sure of it.”
The blonde is a force to be reckoned with, no matter her location. And although she could definitely make a difference even if she wasn’t living in the country, we’re glad she chose to stay in the end.
Like Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry is an absolute bad-ass when it comes to making important political statements:
