New York College Now Offers Class All About — Wait for It — Miley Cyrus
It's not the most outrageous thing we've ever heard involving Miley Cyrus — remember, a guy is involved in a lawsuit because he was injured by her tongue — but it's certainly… interesting. A New York state college is now offering a summer course dedicated to the 21-year-old star.
The class, available at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, intends to delve into the sociology of the "We Can't Stop" singer. The description boasts, "From Disney tween to twerking machine, Miley Cyrus has grown up in the public eye, trying on and discarding very different identities on-screen and off-. She provides rich examples for analyzing aspects of intersectional identities and media representation…"
It continues, "Ongoing media frenzy focused on Miley Cyrus' public image, music and body highlights the ways in which intersectional identities are shaped by pop culture and mass media. In this special topics course, we will explore core issues of intersectionality theory, looking at race, class and gender, as well as taking a feminist critique of media, using Miley as a lens through which to explore sociological thinking about identity, entertainment, media and fame."
Man, what we wouldn't give to see a copy of that final exam. Would you wanna take the class? What do you think of the description? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below, or on our Miley Cyrus message board.
