May 21, 2018
Over the weekend, royals and
A-list celebrities gathered at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle to attend the wedding of and Prince Harry . If you’re anything like us, you probably woke up bright and early to catch their arrivals, the ceremony and, yes — the carriage ride. Based on the way the couple looked at each other, it’s safe to say that, after several years of dating and even a failed marriage behind her, Meghan finally got her happily-ever-after. Meghan Markle
At 36 years old, it’s no secret that it took Meghan several years to find her Prince Charming, but we’re sure that even she didn’t think it was going to be a literal prince! Before Harry, Meghan dated actors, athletes and even a chef, but none of those guys could prepare her for her royal future. So, what are you waiting for? Click through this gallery and take a look at all the guys she’s dated
before becoming the Duchess of Sussex:

Long before Meghan fell in love with a royal, she was in a college relationship with a guy named
Steve Lepore, who's now a basketball coach at the Virginia Military Institute. The two met at Northwestern University, but the end of the relationship came when Steve transferred to a different school. Hey, it happens!
These days, though, Steve (and the rest of the world) is pretty aware of the fact that Meghan glowed up and is now literal royalty. Still, he offered some kind words about the now-Duke and Duchess of Sussex, saying, "Best of luck to her and Prince Harry." Well, that was nice!

After college, Meghan went on to date actor and screenwriter
Shaun Zaken for a period of around six months. Interestingly enough, this couple also met at Northwestern, but they hit it off, partially due to their desire to make it to Hollywood.
After those six months went by, it became clear to Meghan that Shaun wasn't looking for the same commitment that she was and, therefore, they decided to go their separate ways. Ultimately, it worked out for Meghan because she found someone committed, who also just so happens to be a prince. Would you look at that!

Following her split with Shaun in 2003, Meghan entered into a five-month-long fling with another actor,
Brett Ryland. As you can see in the photo above, Brett has since found love with a woman who's not Meghan, but that's okay because some sources claim that she just wasn't really that into it.
A source told
The Sun, "Brett adored Meghan. He was constantly trying to shower her with love and she enjoyed the attention, but she seemed to be in it more for the affirmation. He didn't have the kind of bravado or high profile she was looking for in a partner. He tried hard, but there wasn't much glamour or huge chemistry." Well, you win some, you lose some!

You may know actor
Simon Rex from Scary Movie, but he actually met Meghan on set of the TV series Cuts, where they seemingly hit it off. Apparently, the two guest starred on the same episode, but in the end, these two just weren't meant to be.
Following their guest roles on the show, Simon and Meghan only went out on one date, which is a clear indication that they just weren't right for one another. All these years later, though, it seems like Meghan really figured her life out and will not be looking back with any regrets. Trust us... we're sure of it.

Since getting engaged to Prince Harry, the media has made a huge deal about the fact that Meghan has been married before. To give you a little background, her ex-husband is film producer
Trevor Engelson. The two began dating in 2004, and later wed in 2011.
Clearly, Trevor and Meghan's marriage didn't work out, and the couple got divorced in 2013, citing "irreconcilable differences." According to
The Telegraph, the couple had trouble making their long-distance relationship work. Luckily, this won't be an issue for Harry and Meghan, since we're sure she'll be living large inside Kensington Palace for the rest of her life.

Although this relationship was never quite confirmed, the fact that Meghan shared photos of herself with pro hockey player
Michael Del Zotto four months before her divorce with Trevor certainly raised some eyebrows. On social media, Meghan expressed admiration for the hockey star and, of course, people assumed that meant they were secretly an item.
In conjunction with the rumors, though, Meghan went to several of his hockey games, and even flew to New York to catch one. She also referred to him as "the best" on her social accounts, so it didn't exactly seem like an innocent friendship. While we may never get an answer about the status of their relationship at the time, she soon moved on.

To this day, Meghan would most likely insist that she and pro golfer
Rory McIlroy were just friends, but still, rumors swirled, which made people believe that perhaps they were more than that and were just keeping their relationship under wraps.
Back in 2014, for example, Meghan participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge after being challenged by Rory himself. The two were later seen out to dinner together in Dublin. Obviously, this isn't enough info to say that these two were officially an item, but it's worth mentioning.

Meghan's last official relationship before dating Prince Harry was with chef
Cory Vitiello, and actually, the two were dating as recently as two weeks before she started seeing the royal. Meghan and Cory began dating around a year after her divorce, and the two reportedly dated quietly for around two years.
Daily Mail, the couple came extremely close to tying the knot. The site also claims that he was the one who introduced her to some of the high society friends that brought her to Prince Harry. Well, that certainly backfired!

Unless you've been living under a rock, you know all about how Meghan officially became a royal over the weekend when she married Prince Harry at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. Finally, after kissing all those frogs, Meghan found her prince... who just so happens to be an actual prince IRL, of course.
The beautiful couple began dating in October 2016, thanks to a mutual friend who set the two up. Clearly, the friend got it SO right because they're pretty much the most adorable couple we've ever seen. Moving forward, Harry and Meghan will quite literally live happily ever after as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and we can't wait to watch their fairy tale unfold. Congratulations, Meghan! You really did the most!
