Mark Salling Allegedly Attempted Suicide Before Child Porn Plea Deal
Mark Salling recently pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography involving a prepubescent minor and agreed to serve four to seven years years in prison as a result. The plea agreement actually works in his favor, as he could’ve served up to 20 years seeing as cops found 50,000 images and videos of child porn on his laptop and 4,000 photos on a flash drive when they searched his house. According to TMZ, however, the 35-year-old allegedly attempted suicide just weeks before he entered the plea.
The website reports that the former Glee actor cut both of his wrists in his bedroom on August 22. He allegedly “freaked out” as a result and called for his roommate, who called 911 for help. Mark was treated by paramedics and taken to the hospital by ambulance, where he underwent psychiatric evaluation. He allegedly later entered rehab for “psychological issues.”
According to Mark’s lawyer, however, TMZ‘s report of a suicide attempt is completely untrue.
“Mark is physically fine and Mark is spending his time atoning and working on himself,” the lawyer said in a statement.
MS was arrested for possession of child pornography in December 2015. According to court docs, he used his home computer to “download thousands of images of child pornography” from April 2015 through the time of his arrest. He allegedly tried to go undetected by police by using a software that hid his IP address, but he showed some of the pictures to an adult female on two occasions and she subsequently reported him. The specific porn was said to involve minors “engaging in or simulating sexual conduct.” Disgusting.
Mark has not yet officially been sentenced for his heinous crimes, but we will definitely keep you posted.
Mark Salling is only one former Glee star who was involved in a scandal:
In December 2015, Mark was arrested for possession of child pornography. The details are completely disgusting — police allegedly found more than a thousand illicit sexual images on his computer, some featuring children who are under 10 years old! As much as we liked him as Puck, there's just no excuse for something like this. If he's found guilty, well, good luck in jail, buddy.
