Madelaine Petsch Didn’t Find Kissing BFF Vanessa Morgan on Riverdale Weird
The moment Riverdale fans have been waiting for ALL season finally happened on last night’s episode — Cheryl Blossom and Toni Topaz kissed! Cue the confetti, y’all! The smooch came after Veronica, Josie and Toni realized the redhead wasn’t actually at a Swiss boarding school, but rather in the possession of the Sisters of Quiet Mercy, who were performing conversion therapy. When Toni finally found Cheryl being forced to watch an anti-gay movie, she called for her, hugged her and ultimately couldn’t hold back the kiss any longer.

Fans are absolutely thrilled that Cheryl and Toni finally sorted out their feelings and locked lips, but how does Madelaine Petsch, who plays the HBIC and is best friends with Vanessa Morgan in real life, feel about it? Pretty great! We know you may THINK it’s weird to pucker up with your BFF in front of camera, but it’s actually not.
“It’s less weird than kissing someone you don’t know,” the 23-year-old told Elle. “I mean, I’d rather kiss my best friend than kiss some random guy. I just feel like we were more comfortable. We laughed about it just for a second and then we were like, ‘OK, let’s do it!’ And now it’s not weird at all.”
Mads thinks Cheryl knew from the moment she met Toni that there was something special there.
She explained, “From day one you could see that Toni struck a different chord with her. You know, from the way that she irked her. Cheryl never really goes head to head with anybody that she doesn’t know. And yet, the first time she met Toni she was going to battle with her. I think it’s because Toni sparked a fire in her, and an interest and excitement. Then they spend one day together and Cheryl shares her deepest secrets with her…I think that Toni brings a softness to her; and the more the season goes on you really see this beautiful vulnerability and softness to Cheryl.”
