An Australian Radio DJ Dissed Louis Tomlinson’s Looks & 1D Fans Went IN

Let this be a lesson for everyone: Don’t say anything negative about One Direction, or you will feel the wrath of the fandom. One particular member of the media should know that by now after making a not-so-nice comment about Louis Tomlinson‘s facial hair.

A couple weeks back, the 25-year-old musician released his latest single, “Miss You,” and dropped the music video for it the following week. So, naturally, the singer is on the promo circuit, signing up for interviews in various locations. Earlier this week, he signed up for a phone interview with Australian radio station Hit Network’s breakfast show, with host Ash London. Fellow breakfast show host Ash Williams, however, wasn’t sure who Louis was prior to the Q&A, so he asked:

Just so I can get clear too, because I’m a very visual guy… he’s the guy with the smaller face with the short brown hair, yeah?

Ash L.’s response:

Kind of like ratty facial hair.

Another co-host, Ed Kavalee, made the most biting remark, saying:

He’s not Harry Styles, basically. He’s the least popular one of the lot.

And yet, it seems like Ash London is the one receiving most of the backlash. You won’t BELIEVE the death threats she’s gotten. After the interview was conducted, she issued the following statement: “I’m a music fan. I love that it brings so much passion out in people. This morning on air we had a great interview with Louis. As always – he was a total legend. I loved talking about how far he’s come, his new music and his future which looks so bright… We love Louis and we will continue supporting him and his new music as we have always done.”

But that wasn’t enough for the public. She continued to be barraged by haterade. So, she issued another statement, which specifically addressed her comment: “Tough day. A lot of people claiming I said some things which, in reality I simply didn’t. What I can apologise for, is describing the quality of someone’s facial hair in a light hearted chat with my two co hosts. For that I’m sorry. All the other stuff? Simply not true. Not me.” This is most likely in reference to people claiming that she said he’s the “least popular” member of 1D, when that was actually her co-host’s comment.

“I’ll be off socials for a bit,” she added, “the abuse and threats are a little much for me right now. I won’t go on private because I don’t have anything to hide. In future I’ll do what I always do – stick to the music and leave any mentions of facial hair out of it.”

In response to Ash’s first statement (but posted after her second statement was published), Louis simply said, “Probs best to stay on private for a bit longer love,” along with the middle-finger emoji.
