7 Huge Movie Roles You’ll Never Believe Logan Lerman Was Considered to Play
Logan Lerman tends to keep a low profile, so it’s sometimes easy to forgot just how many incredible movies he’s been in; The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Noah and The Patriot are just three films on a much longer list of cinema classics. But while the 24-year-old actor has been steadily working for about 16 years, he understands what it’s like to hear the word ‘no.’
At this point in his career, the Percy Jackson star is able to be a bit selective in the roles he chooses. “I want to do different characters — tough characters — and things that scare me, and also just collaborate with good filmmakers,” he told Teen Vogue. “I try to be a part of films with directors that I really appreciate.” But sometimes that selectivity comes back to bite him in the butt, because he’s tried (and failed) to snag various roles over the years. For example…
Patrick, The Perks of Being a Wallflower
Logan has said that he had to fight hard to play Charlie in TPOBAW, and part of that might've been because Stephen Chbosky saw him as Patrick at first.
"Logan in real life is a very confident young man and I thought he’d be good to play Patrick because he’s also very funny," the author and director told Complex. "I said, 'Hey, why don’t you audition for Patrick?' And he said, 'No, I want to audition for Charlie.' I was surprised by that, but I said, 'OK. I believe in following an actor's passion, so if that’s what you want, I'll be supportive. Let's do it.' And he came in and he nailed it in five seconds because he had the balance of every characteristic that Charlie had, and everything that I wanted the character to be for the movie."
