8 Live-Action Nickelodeon TV Shows That Were SO Good, They Got Their Own Movie
In order for a television show to become a movie, a lot of things need to happen, but fan-support is obviously the most important aspect. Think about it — if no one is a fan of the small-screen series, who the heck is going to watch the film?!
While almost all of our favorite Disney Channel shows had DCOM spin-offs, Nickelodeon is slightly more picky when it comes into turning a series into a made-for-TV flick. What Nick DOES do quite often, however, is advertise a slightly longer episode as a television “movie” (Zoey 101 did this MULTIPLE times and Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide is also a culprit), even though it’s really not. The network also loves turning their animated classics like SpongeBob SquarePants and Hey Arnold! into special adaptations.
What we’re going to focus on in this post, however, is live-action shows (think Big Time Rush and iCarly) that were SO amazing that Nickelodeon knew they had to capitalize on their successes and create flicks. Keep reading to check ’em all out!
Big Time Rush
Big Time Rush quickly went from being just a television show to a TOTAL phenomenon among tweens. In addition to capitalizing on its success by sending Carlos PenaVega, Logan Henderson, James Maslow and Kendall Schmidt out on multiple tours, Nickelodeon also created Big Time Movie.
The film was such a big deal that before it aired on Nick March 10, 2012, the network hosted an actual NYC premiere where HUGE celebs (like the guys of One Direction) attended.
