Wow, One Little Mix Girl Got Revenge on Her Ex in the Most Savage Way Possible

We know what you’re doing right now: singing along to Little Mix‘s “Shout Out to My Ex,” right? Don’t worry, ’cause we totally are, too, especially since the fierce foursome released the music video for the Glory Days single today!

“Shout out to my ex, you’re really quite the man
You made my heart break and that made me who I am
Here’s to my ex, hey, look at me now, well, I
I’m all the way up, I swear you’ll never bring me down”

Though it’s clearly heavily inspired by Perrie Edwards‘ split with Zayn Malik, it’s a “positive breakup anthem that everyone can relate to,” according to Perrie’s fellow Little Mix chick, Jade Thirlwall. And we agree! In fact, the entirety of the girl group’s upcoming Glory Days album will strike a chord with fans everywhere.

Though “SOtME” is the only track from the yet-to-be-released CD that anyone’s heard so far, Jade did tell us exclusively about what to expect. “It’s like a good balance, I think. The album is like love and heartbreak because me and Jesy [Nelson] kind of found love” — Jade is currently dating The Struts bass player Jed Elliott & Jesy is engaged to Rixton‘s Jake Roche — “and Leigh[-Anne Pinnock] and Perrie had breakups” — Leigh-Anne & longtime boyfriend Jordan Kiffin called it quits before this past summer — “so it’s like a good sort of balance.”

While the 23-year-old singer is in great spirits about the state of her current relationship, telling us even her mom loves him, she hasn’t had such great experiences in the past. She revealed that her first boyfriend had a bunch of his pals “laughing on the phone when he broke up with me. I was so embarrassed and mortified. All of his friends were on the other line, like, laughing in the background. He did it in front of everyone.”

But Jade got the last laugh. “I got with his best friend,” she confessed. “So it was okay.” SAVAGE!

So, how does she deal with a breakup? “I think the first few weeks, you do stalk them for a while, you’re online, seeing what they’re up to, like, I think every girl [becomes] obsessed, they’re a bit in denial that it’s really over,” she explained. “And then you block them… You start to move on.”

We also couldn’t help but dig a little more into her dating history, asking if she had any bad first date experiences. And, boy, did she ever. “There was one date that I didn’t turn up to. It’s really bad,” she admitted. “I really, really don’t want to go… It was so messy, because if someone did that to me, I’d be so upset and I did apologize. I was like, ‘I’m so sorry I didn’t come.'” Ultimately, “I did feel sorry, but I just knew that as soon got there it really wasn’t going to be my cup of tea and I wouldn’t have enjoyed it.” Her excuse: “I think I just pretended I forgot.”

Along with a new album, plus a tour with Ariana Grande (FYI, Jade’s a HUGE “Side to Side” fan), Little Mix also has a new book, called Our World; one in which Jade opened up about her struggles with bullying, racism and an eating disorder. But when asked if she deals with any of those roadblocks now, she said, “No, not anymore. I think the bullying thing is always gonna be there” due to online trolls, but she’s “grown a thick skin” and doesn’t let that affect her anymore. In terms of the other aforementioned struggles, she said, “Everything else is fine, to be honest.” That’s great to hear!
When it comes to relationships, the Little Mix girls definitely have one thing in common: a taste for boy-banders!
