Lili Reinhart Gets Super Real About Her Struggles with Cystic Acne
It honestly doesn’t get any more relatable than this. Lili Reinhart recently opened up on social media about her struggle with cystic acne and girl, we totally feel ya.
On Monday, the Riverdale star got super candid about her struggle with acne on Instagram. Lili shared her lifelong struggles by sharing a story about her photo shoot from that day. In a series of posts on her Story, the 21-year-old wrote, “I have a cystic breakout on my forehead currently. And I had to do a photo shoot all day long, I’ve had cystic acne since I was 12. And it has caused major self-esteem issues ever since.” Way to keep it real, Lils.
The actress went on to reveal that her acne is basically her biggest insecurity. So, it makes total sense that when she had over 20 people studying her face all day at the photo shoot, all she could think about was her acne. Lili went on to share that during insecure times like these, she usually texts her mom, with whom she can be honest with about how she’s feeling. “I tell her how ugly I feel and how these breakouts shatter my confidence every time they appear,” she explains. “I’m not sure if or when I’ll ever be able to accept my skin as it is.”
Whether you constantly battle cystic acne or not, we can all relate to her feelings of insecurities. In fact, that’s actually why Lili shared her story. “I feel the need to talk about my struggle with acne,” the Riverdale actress said. “Because maybe if I normalize my broken-out skin, more people…including myself…will be able to feel okay about their skin. My breakouts don’t define me, to anyone out there who feels embarrassed or ashamed by breakouts…I feel you.”
She then encouraged her fans to share their acne story, and when doing so, to use the hashtag #breakoutbuddy. Lili wants her fans to know that we are all in this together.
