Liam Payne Scraps Debut Solo Album Following Cheryl Breakup
Liam Payne‘s debut solo album was supposed to come out on September 14, but less than a month before the release date was upon us the former One Direction member decided to scrap the whole project.
The 24-year-old singer admits that he’s gone through some “big changes” in “the last few months,” alluding to his breakup with girlfriend and baby mama Cheryl
Cole Fernandez-Versini and, as a result, some of the songs on the album don’t really make sense anymore.
“As you may know, the last few months have seen some big changes for me…” he said in a Twitter statement last night. “I looked at some of the songs on my album which were done a while ago and they felt from another age. I’m determined for my debut album to truly represent me.”
Liam is currently “back in the studio” working on a few more tunes to add to the full-length album, but simply can’t put it out on it’s scheduled date. What he is going to do, however, is release an EP called First Time on August 24, which will feature four brand-new songs.

We know it’s disappointing, but the British cutie assures us that he’s “really proud of” the tunes, so we’re sure the full-length album will be worth the wait.
He explains, “This EP is a collection of songs that I’m really proud of and want you all to hear…tell me what you think. As always, thanks for your support — it means the world to me.”
