Liam Payne Gives Update on One Direction’s “Obvious” Reunion
It’s been 23 months since the boy band last performed together, (not that anyone has been counting or anything), and we’ve recently been wondering if we’d ever see Liam, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson back on the same stage. When the group first announced their hiatus back in summer 2015, they all promised that it was just a well-deserved break and that they would be back together before we could even really miss them.
Soon enough everyone had signed a solo record deal and had singles coming out. All four current members of the band have found massive success in their songs, albums and are headlining their own tours. As much as we love to sing along to “Strip That Down,” “Back To You,” “Slow Hands,” “Kiwi,” and everything else in between, we definitely miss the days when they would sing together.
Although many fans first thought the break would only last 12 months, that was obviously not the case. With all the boys doing so well, we didn’t know how realistic a reunion really would be. In the beginning, the guys didn’t necessarily want to talk about their boy band past and instead focused on their solo careers. But now, they’re starting to open up about the possibility of reuniting the band and their answers have us getting really really excited.
During an interview with Callum Gallacher on Clyde 1 radio, Liam opened up about 1D’s future and said the words that we have been dying to hear. Buckle up Directioners, because he verbatim said that fans shouldn’t be angry about the hiatus because “there’s so much magic that’s come from it and, obviously, we are going to get back together.”
Yes, you heard that right. Bear Payne’s dad said that the band is OBVIOUSLY going to get back together. This feels like an early Christmas present. However, Liam isn’t the only member who has been adamant about the band returning to the stage.
During Niall‘s Billboard cover interview, he also confirmed that the boys are 100 percent coming back, and he hopes it happens sooner than later, too!
“I told my managers from the start — when One Direction comes knocking, f*ck what I’m doing,” he said. “I don’t give a sh*t if I sold out arenas or won Grammys. I wouldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t for that.”
YES, NIALL! Now if only we had a specific date…
