Apparently, a One Direction Guy Has a New Girlfriend… Who’s Effing MARRIED!

By  |

It happens more often than you think — celebrities dating each other when one of them is still married. Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder and Alexa Vega and Carlos Pena are just two examples of your fave celeb couples who began canoodling when they technically shouldn’t have. And to add to the long list of famous almost-cheaters, Liam Payne might’ve just confirmed his new romance with a woman who is already hitched!

Last week, The Sun reported that the 22 year old was dating 32-year-old singer Cheryl Fernandez-Versini. No one really believed the magazine’s story, because it was just SO out of left field; Liam and Cheryl met when he first auditioned for The X-Factor and she was a judge, but apparently didn’t start a romantic relationship until just after One Direction performed on the show in December. Oh and as we mentioned before, the brunette beauty married Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini in July 2014, and despite facing divorce rumors at the end of 2015, they have never confirmed if they’re splitting or not.

The story seems a bit wonky, right? Well, that’s what Directioners thought, too, until Liam kindasorta confirmed The Sun’s report by changing his Instagram profile picture to one of him and the former Girls Aloud songstress.

Like…WHAT!? The 1D guy also updated his Insta description to simply say “happy,” which many people are taking as a connection to his new flame. If the Cheryl-Liam dating news IS true, and the pair isn’t simply trying to troll the world, it seems that they’re actually pretty serious.

“Liam was really struggling with the idea of life after the band to begin with — being in the spotlight and that level of fame had started to get to him,” a source told The Sun. “But he’s been so happy with Cheryl. He’s been telling people close to him that he’s madly in love.”

Excuse us while we go wrap our heads around this whole situation…
