The entertainment industry has come a long way in featuring not only LGBTQ+ characters in major projects, but also giving queer actors equal opportunity as straight stars. We’re not saying we’re done promoting equality in Hollywood — there is always room for more representation on screen — but it’s pretty awesome to see all sorts of people/roles on television and in films.
While there are lots of queer superheroes on the small screen, there are also many straight heroes. It’s not uncommon for a gay actor to play a heterosexual character, or vice versa, especially in the world of comic-book movies.
