Lea Michele Breaks Her Silence in First Interview Since Cory Monteith’s Passing
It's the eve of Glee's farewell to Finn episode, "The Quarterback," and fans are already bracing for what's sure to be THE most emotional show in history. (After all, how many times can you say that a dramedy has imitated life so closely?) But before we all sit down in front of our TV sets with a box of tissues, you must read Lea Michele's words with TV Week Australia.
In Cory Monteith's on- and off-screen love's first interview since his passing on July 13, she says, "I feel like, for me personally, I've lost two people: Cory and Finn. We had a beautiful memorial for Cory in the auditorium and some of the cast members sang and people spoke about him. It only felt right that we would do the same thing for Finn, so I felt it was very therapeutic."
She continues, "Everyone is asking: 'Is it hard to do this? Is it hard to be back at work?' But the truth is it's no harder at work than it is in life, so we might as well all be together as a family supporting each other to get through this together."
Prior to this, Lea let Gleeks know that she appreciated their support via Twitter and during her acceptance speech at this year's Teen Choice Awards, during which there was not a dry eye in the house: "For all of you out there who loved Cory as much as I did — I promise you, we'll get through this together. He was very special to me and also to the world, and we were very lucky to witness his incredible talent, his handsome smile and his beautiful, beautiful heart. So whether you knew him personally or as Finn, he reached out and became a part of all of our hearts."
All of the songs from the emotional episode have already been released, including Lea's solo, "Make You Feel My Love." (Listen to them here.) Are you going to tune in for the tribute show? Tell us in the comments below, or on our Glee message board.
