Lea Michele Perfectly Shuts Down the Wild Fan Theory That She’s Illiterate

We’ll admit that we’re total suckers for good conspiracy theories. 13 Reasons Why, Season 2 has some great ones; Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom does, too. If we didn’t have to go into the office and, you know, work every day, we could easily go down the rabbit hole of fan theories and never get bored.

Recently, Lea Michele became the center of one wild theory that we simply had to stop and read through. Thoroughly. Twice… and then again after that… but it’s totally fine because it’s not as if we had to stop working to read it — it’s literally a part of our jobs!

Anyway, getting back to it, the theory claims that the actress is illiterate. Yes, the 31-year-old woman, who’s known for her starring roles on Broadway and television, as well as for being a successful book author, is rumored to be incapable of reading. Wha-?!

The theory first appeared on a podcast titled One More Thing in July 2017:

However, it gained much more momentum over the course of the past week. So much so, that the Glee alum took notice. Twitter user @miss_traceydav said, “I am pretty certain @LeaMichele is laughing her head off right now – it is weird what people come up with.” To that, Lea responded with the ultimate clapback, perfectly shutting down the rumor. “Loved READING this tweet and wanted to WRITE you back?,” she said. “literally laughing out loud at all this? love you!!! ?❤️”

The theory uses evidence such as her lack of response to Naya Rivera‘s tell-all memoir, titled Sorry Not Sorry: Dreams, Mistakes, and Growing, which documents their on-set feud, plus her early introduction to the stage, which means she didn’t always receive traditional schooling. But, perhaps, she didn’t feel the need to respond to Naya’s petty material — it would, after all, have given Naya more publicity — and it’s quite possible to receive a great education outside of the four walls of a school building. We’re happy to see that Lea has a great sense of humor about the situation, though!
