The Public is Pissed Kristen Stewart Was Snubbed for an Oscar Nom & Here’s Why

By  |

Congratulations to all the females nominated for Best Actress & Best Supporting Actress at the 88th Academy Awards. For BA, there’s Cate Blanchett (Carol), Brie Larson (Room), Jennifer Lawrence (Joy), Charlotte Rampling (45 Years) & Saoirse Ronan (Brooklyn); for BSA, there’s Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight), Rooney Mara (Carol), Rachel McAdams (Spotlight), Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl) & Kate Winslet (Steve Jobs). While it may seem like a solid bunch, for some, there was a female talent that was noticeably absent: Kristen Stewart.

Although she did not receive a nomination at the Golden Globes, which aired this past weekend, her fans still held out hope for acknowledgment from the Academy for the 25-year-old’s performance in last year’s Clouds of Sils Maria… which she did not receive. Needless to say, they were PISSED:

Considering she was the first American to win a Cesar, France’s most prominent film award, among other accolades, for her portrayal of Valentine in CoSM, it came as an even bigger shock to her supporters:

Some suggest that it’s a conspiracy on the Academy’s part:

And they’re completely hating on those that did make it into the category:

Bustle begged the question that may explain why she was overlooked for her “career-defining performance:” “Does the shadow of Twilight and Bella Swan still hang over Kristen Stewart?” The world may never know.

Kristen Stewart talks about her reunion with Jesse Eisenberg. Get the deets:
