For the First Time Ever, YouTube Star Speaks Out About Her Sexuality
YouTube star Kelly Eden is open about a lot of things in her life, but one topic she never discussed was her sexuality. The 27-year-old explained that she made a conscious decision NOT to talk about it due to her “fear of rejection.” Now, in the midst of Pride Month, the Cosplayer chose to finally open up about the subject that has garnered tons of questions over the years.
“I’m bisexual, or pan, or queer, like…I don’t really know,” she said in a video posted to YT. “I’m still trying to figure it out. I’ll just say I’m queer. I have know that I’ve been queer for a very long time, almost my entire life. I think I knew probably at the age of 10, or maybe even younger.”
The YouTuber went on to say that she grew up in a very conservative town and was basically taught that being homosexual was bad or shameful.
“I said, ‘Okay, I’m just going to keep this to myself. I’m going to spare myself the pain, the humiliation.'”
While Kelly operated with that mentality for “many years,” she eventually stumbled upon Lady Gaga, and her whole life changed.
She explained, “For the first time, I had this really powerful female role model to look up to. […] And when Gaga came out I was just mesmerized by her. […] Little by little I started to feel more and more comfortable accepting the fact that I was queer.”
The Internet personality moved to Los Angeles where she met a great group of friends who further inspired her to accept herself and eventually open up to others about the things she once felt had to be kept hidden. Love!
