7 Celebrities You’d Never Guess Were Almost Cast in Justice League
If you follow comic books on the big screen at all, you know that the Justice League movie has been a long time coming. Ten years ago, the same guy who directed Mad Max: Fury Road had plans to bring this batch of superheroes to the big screen, but George Miller never managed to make it work. Even though the entire thing was cast (with actors we love like Armie Hammer and Adam Brody), costumes were created, and filming was set to happen in Australia, scheduling conflicts and a massive budget meant the whole thing got put on hold.
Everyone was super (pun intended) bummed about the news, which is why November 17 is such a big day for all those obsessed with superheroes. Fans can’t wait to see Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, and Henry Cavill hit the big screen together again as Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman — but this time with Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as the Flash, and Ray Fisher as Cyborg. It can’t not be epic with a lineup like that. It just can’t!
But the credits at the end of the film could have been entirely different. We’ve already rounded up all of the women who auditioned for Wonder Woman, as well as all of the guys who tried out to play Batman — did you know Ashton Kutcher was considered? — but we’re not just talking about those could-have-beens.
They all sound crazy now that we’ve seen Gal and Ben kill it, and we think all the almost-castings for the other Justice League characters will be no different. So next time you watch a trailer — and when you wait in line at the theater later this month — appreciate each celebrity a little extra — they beat out a lot of talented A-listers to get their roles!
To win the coveted Superman role in Man of Steel, auditioning actors had to wear the OG Christopher Reeves' suit without anybody laughing. We wonder if the casting directors couldn't keep a straight face with Zac in tights, because the 30-year-old was passed up for the part. As much as we'd have loved to see the former Disney star as our fave hero, we can't complain about who was picked in the long run.
