Because There Are No Original Ideas Anymore, ‘Jungle Book’ Gets Reboot

By  |

Although our childhood favorites have made for quite the entertaining spread in recent years — Snow White and the Huntsman, Red Riding Hood, etc. — the trend may be going a wee bit far…

According to The Hollywood Reporter, yet another is getting a reboot, thus confirming that there are no more original movie ideas left. “Disney is swinging into development on a live-action adaptation of The Jungle Book, Rudyard Kipling’s classic set of fables based in India… Disney famously adapted the stories in a 1967 animated film,” but obviously that wasn’t enough.

Back in 2010, the company brought Alice in Wonderland to life with Johnny Depp and Mia Wasikowska at the helm. Up next: the recreation of Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent, told from the point of view of the fairy tale’s villain, led by Angelina Jolie. Still to come are the live-action versions of Cinderella, tapped for some time in 2014, as well as Beauty and the Beast (potentially anyway).
