Celebrities React to the Sudden Death of Comedienne Joan Rivers
It breaks our hearts to have to say this, but we’re here to report that Joan Rivers has passed away. The 81-year-old comedienne and host of E!’s Fashion Police was taken off life support today and took her last breath with her family by her side.
Her daughter, Melissa Rivers, made the shocking announcement a short while ago.
“It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my mother, Joan Rivers. She passed peacefully at 1:17 PM surrounded by family and close friends. My son and I would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Mount Sinai hospital for the amazing care they provided for my mother. Cooper and I have found ourselves humbled by the outpouring of love, support and prayers we have received from around the world. They have been heard and appreciated. My mother’s greatest joy in life was to make people laugh. Although that is difficult to do right now, I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing soon.”
Joan is credited for being one of the first female comics to break into Hollywood, and has been making people laugh since the ’60s. Her reach on other was apparent, as many celebrities already took to Twitter to express their sadness.
I just heard the sad news… RIP Joan Rivers 🙁
My sincerest condolences go out to her family.
