After Almost 10 Years Online, YouTuber Emotionally Comes Out as Transgender
November 13th marked the 9-year anniversary of Jeydon Wale‘s first YouTube video, and to celebrate the momentous occasion he decided to come clean about a major secret he’s kept from his subscribers.
“Hi, my name is Jeydon Wale and I am female to male transgender — holy s*it,” he emotionally stated in his most recent video. “I have always been a boy, [but] my body said otherwise at birth.”
The 25-year-old felt it was the right time to make the announcement because he’ll be starting hormone-replacement therapy in the coming weeks and wants his followers “to be a part of this.”
“I’ve waited for this for like 10 years, since before YouTube. This is something I know that I’ve wanted and it’s been the craziest journey to get here, but I’m finally here; it’s finally happening.”
While the Canadian is “okay now,” he was “unbelievably depressed” at the start of his YouTube career.
“I felt so alone. The people around me were not accepting me… I felt like I was suffocating. I felt like I was drowning. I felt like my skin was smothering me and I was trapped in my body and it honestly felt like a nightmare that was never, ever going to end.”
Though making videos online, Jeydon found a sense of belonging and wants to thank his followers for helping him get to this point of peace.
“I never thought people would love and accept me for who I am…I just can’t thank you enough; thank you for letting me be myself, something the world was trying so hard to take away from me… You guys are the reason why I’m still here and I want to show you how happy I am and I want you to experience everything with me.”
