YouTube Star Jessie Paege Comes Out as Bisexual & Demisexual
Pride Month has been filled with wonderful, inspiring coming-out stories from the LGBTQ+ community. For instance, The Hunger Games star Amandla Stenberg recently came out as gay, captioning a picture from her Wonderland magazine shoot, “OUT & PROUD. ✨?️? So happy to say the words Yep, I’m Gay in official print.”
And today, we were blessed with another inspiring story — this time, from YouTube star Jessie Paege, whose YT channel, in her own words, is all about “self-care and confidence and identity.” In a video titled “Coming Out,” posted on June 29, the 19-year-old New Jersey native revealed, “My first kiss was actually with a girl.”
Of course, that statement alone doesn’t indicate that she’s a member of the LGBTQ+ community… but the video, in its entirety, does, as she reveals that she first came out a year ago to her closest friends and family, and now chose to reveal her true identity to her viewing public in a video, which she filmed on Father’s Day.
“Coming out as bisexual is scary because there is an incredible amount of erasure,” she explained. “I also identify as demisexual, which essentially means that I’m not sexually attracted to people unless I build up a romantic relationship with them and I think that part of myself has made me realize my bisexuality even more.”
She also posted the following as a description for the footage:
This video has been beyond long overdue. I send love to you all and hope you all embrace your identities. I’m incredibly nervous to post this, but I’ll feel relieved. I wanted to dive into my relationships and experiences through middle school, high school, etc.
But, wait, there’s more. Jessie broke down her story into two parts. Here’s Part II:
