Is 90210’s Jessica Lowndes Gonna Collab with Rihanna and Lady Gaga?! (Exclusive)
Besides the fact that she makes it onto our Best Dressed list, like, every week, we haven’t been focusing on the part of Jessica Lowndes‘ life that orig made us love her: her career, duh! Not only is she one of our fave stars on The CW, but she’s also breaking into the music scene.
So, to fulfill our need for juicy 90210 goss and to find out what the deal is with her singing career, we caught up with Jess at the Duracell Holiday Insurance Program event this week. And you’ll never guess what’s up next for sweet little Adrianna…
Teen: Adrianna’s obviously dealt with a ton of issues and has grown a lot over the seasons (pregnancy, drugs, rehab, etc.). What do you think is up next for her?
Jessica Lowndes: Definitely in the second half of the fourth season it gets a little crazy and dramatic for her ’cause, like, the first half she’s been all about redeeming herself and winning back everybody’s trust, and then it’s gonna get a little crazy.
Teen: Singing is a major part of your 90210 character and you, obvs. How else do you relate to Adrianna?
JL: I feel like she is an extension of me — to a point. The main difference is I don’t like to lead a dramatic life. I have enough drama in my career, and then always playing dramatic roles and storylines… I like to lead a very low profile.
Teen: You had a new single last month called, “I Wish I Was Gay.” What inspired this song and the vid?
JL: I feel like every straight girl at some point in a relationship has said that a lot, and I feel like it’s a power-girl anthem. I was going through a really bad break-up, I had my girlfriends around me, and it was just what helped me get through it. If you listen to the lyrics, people definitely understand.
The video was basically about a guy who cheated on his girlfriend and she’s getting revenge. [Plus,] I’m obsessed with burlesque and Moulin Rouge, so that was really, really fun for me and I funded this whole thing. I haven’t’ signed a deal. I haven’t done anything yet! It’s been really fun having all this creative control and putting out what I want people to see.
JL: I’d love to collaborate with Drake. I think he’s awesome. I love Bruno Mars. His voice gives me goosebumps. Rihanna, Lady Gaga… And then something that’s kind of out of left field: Jared Leto from 30 Seconds to Mars… I actually love the way that he’s kind of crossed over and I just find him really inspiring. It’s a completely different style than my music, but it’s fun.
Teen: Do you ever see yourself leaving acting for your singing career?
JL: There’s just so many things I wanna do. At the end of the day, I wanna be happy. I love telling stories, and acting is telling someone else’s story, [while with] music I’m telling my own story. So I don’t know. I wanna do Broadway one day in New York. That would be an ultimate dream of mine.
For more of Jessica, keep watching 90210 on The CW! Oh, and P.S. She told us she filmed her second music vid for “Nothing Like This” already, and it’s coming out in early January 2012! Yay! What do you think of Jess’ first single? Are you of a fan of her acting or singing? Go ahead, tell us!
