Jennifer Lawrence Awards Show Looks to Copy for Prom
If you’re like us, you most likely want to be best friends with Jennifer Lawrence. She’s just, like, the coolest person ever. But on top of her amazing personality, she has a killer sense of style, too. (Jealous!) So why not copy some of it for your own red carpet moment, prom? Who knows, you could even fall up some steps like she did at the Oscars and people will still be talking about how awesome you looked.
CUTOUTS: At the 2013 Independent Spirit Awards, Jenn let her face (and sides) take centerstage with her hair in a high bun, baring her shoulders. The key here is minimal accessories.
THE KNEE-LENGTH CHLOE DRESS: Hey, sometimes you just have to let your legs breathe. This knee-length, ruffle-y number was for a less-fancy Academy Awards luncheon. But we say, why not rock that length with a pair of pumps worth showing off?
THE SLEEK MANE: Slicking your hair back to a formal event sounds crazy, right? Not if you’re The Girl on Fire. This definitely isn’t a hairstyle for the meek. If you go for it, pair it with a strapless gown, no necklace and drop earrings a la Jennifer at the BAFTAs.
OSCAR-WORTHY HAIR: For special events, everything boils down to how great your ‘do looks. You could wear the best dress ever and if your hair looks bad, people won’t remember that fabulous ensemb. Jenn’s hair was obviously flawless at the Oscars, and might just be the perfect style for supporting a bejeweled headband (or prom queen tiara). Just make sure to work your hair into a loose, low bun with your fingers.WENN
JUICY LIPS: When a big part of your night is going to be spent in front of cameras, you want to make sure that you don’t come out looking too pale. (Awesome in Twilight; not so much in your prom pics.) Jenn balances out a nude dress with a berry lip. Copy it with a berry-colored balm stain to keep your color bright and hydrated.
OVER-THE-SHOULDER GLAM: There are just times when you want to wear your hair down while maintaining a fancy look. At this year’s SAG Awards, J.Law threw her hair over her shoulder and made it ultra glam with a sparkling necklace and red lips. Get all the shoulder style inspiration here.
BELT IT UP: Putting a belt on a really fancy dress sounds kind of crazy, especially when you’re going to the Golden Globes. But it’s so crazy that it works in some cases. Make your look even more lux by cinching in the smallest part of your waste with a metallic belt.
THE SHEER, KEYHOLE DRESS: This style can be quite scandalous, so maybe it’s best to go on the safe side when there are lots of people with cameras hanging around. At the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, Jennifer found a happy (but hot!) medium with a mesh-covered cutout that starts up high and doesn’t dip down too low.
