Jennifer Lawrence’s Private Plane Makes Emergency Landing After Engines Fail
Jennifer Lawrence went from having a relaxing weekend with her family to facing what could’ve been a major plane disaster, all in the span of a few hours.
The Hunger Games actress’ publicist, Liz Mahoney, confirms that her client was traveling on a private jet from her hometown of Louisville, Ky., on Saturday, when one of its engines failed at 31,000 feet. The airplane was forced to make an emergency landing in Buffalo, New York, as a result. During landing, the aircraft’s second engine also went out. The pilot was fortunately able to get the plane on the ground safely, despite not having any functioning engines to work with.
“A Hawker Beechcraft B40 aircraft landed safely at Buffalo Niagara International Airport in New York at about 1:40 pm on Saturday,” a statement made by the FAA read. “The crew diverted to Buffalo when they declared an emergency due to engine-related issues. The flight was heading to Teterboro Airport in New Jersey from Louisville, Kentucky.”
Emergency crews were waiting for the vehicle upon landing, but the 26-year-old, along with everyone else on board, was not injured in the incident.
ABC News‘ aviation expert Col. Steve Ganyard explained, “Airplanes have two engines because occasionally one fails, but two [engines] are not supposed to fail. Anytime you have both engines on a twin engine airplane stop working, it obviously has the potential for disaster.”
We are So glad that Jennifer and everyone else who was on the airplane are safe.
