James Franco Admits That, Yes, He Was Trying to Pick Up a Teenage Girl

By  |

This is all getting a little too fishy (and creepy) for our particular tastes. After word got out that James Franco flirted with a teenage girl both on Instagram and via text messages, we had to call “PUBLICITY STUNT.” The trailer for his upcoming movie, Palo Alto, with Emma Roberts starring as his underage love interest, just debuted. So it makes sense. Right? Erh…

During an appearance on Live! With Kelly and Michael, the 35-year-old wished to come clean about the publicized conversation he had with 17-year-old Scottish fan Lucy Corde, “I was feeling awkward — I didn’t want to come on the show and just feel awkward. I’m embarrassed, and I guess I’m just a model of how social media is tricky. It’s the way that people meet each other today, but what I’ve learned — I guess because I’m new to it — is you don’t know who’s on the other end.”

He continued, “I used bad judgment and I learned my lesson. Unfortunately, in my position, not only do I have to go through the embarrassing rituals of meeting someone, but if I do that, then it gets published for the world, so it’s doubly embarrassing.”

So… this wasn’t for PR? He’s confessing that he actually wanted to meet up with a teenager at a hotel? That’s what he’s saying?? Hmm, either, once again, he just wants his name in headlines, and this is all part of Palo Alto promotion, or he really is creeper status. What do you think, guys? Is this all for publicity, or was he really flirting with an underage girl? For more of the interview, watch the video here:
