After Years of Denial, One of Your Fave Internet Stars Finally Comes Out as Gay
Yesterday marked the 28th anniversary of National Coming Out Day, a holiday that encourages the LGBTQ+ community to come out and be themselves. YouTubers like Joey Graceffa, Ingrid Nilsen and Troye Sivan all spoke about the day on social media, but another Internet star used NCOD to finally be truthful with his audience.
“I’m sitting here making this video because I want to tell you guys that I’m gay,” Musical.ly star Jackson Krecioch said in a YouTube video.
While the 18-year-old “always thought [he] was special and different from everybody else” and “never really felt attracted to girls the way everybody else told [him he] should be,” he always pushed the thoughts out of his head and denied his feelings.
“I think I knew I was gay by the time I was 12, but from then to 17 I never accepted it. I would just deny it every time it came to my head.”
Then came his junior year of high school, when one day after work he finally felt ready to embraced the feelings he had for so many years.
“I just said it out loud. I just said, ‘I’m gay.’ I finally admitted it.”
Jackson said he was nervous about coming out publicly because he doesn’t want it to “change the way you guys think of [him],” but ultimately decided it was necessary so he can be a role model for his viewers who are also struggling with their sexuality.
“If anyone out there is going through the same thing, I just want to let you know that it’s okay,” he concluded the video. “You are amazing the way you are. Don’t change yourself for anybody else. Be you.” PREACH!!!
