The Top 10 Best Moments from the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Awards

By  |

From all of Cardi B‘s on-stage moments to Asahd Khaled taking the spotlight away from his dad to the premiere of Taylor Swift‘s latest music video, “Delicate,” there was not a single boring moment at the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Awards. And here our ten best moments to prove it:

1. Marshmello dancing to “Bodak Yellow.”

Cardi B had one hell of a performance–and we weren’t the only ones who thought so. As Cardi sang her way through her radio hits on stage, DJ Marshmello was caught on camera getting lit to “Bodak Yellow.”

2. Cardi B’s “Best New Artist” acceptance speech.

In Cardi’s speech, she thanked everyone from her team, to her family, friends, her fans, basically everyone who contributed to her success — she even thanked her haters, and that’s pretty much what made us all love her even more.

3. DJ Khaled not knowing how to pronounce Jenna Dewan-Tatum’s name.

Near the beginning of the show, DJ Khaled was going around the VIP area making sure everyone was being treated nicely. He soared through his hosting duties, except for one moment when it came time to introduce Jenna Dewan-Tatum and Eve. Luckily, a stagehand was nearby to lend the co-host some help in pronouncing Jenna’s name.

4. Ariana Grande’s dog winning the Cutest Musician’s Pet Award.

We all know the iHeartRadio Music Awards is a show that’s mainly about awarding music’s biggest stars and hits of the year, but the people behind the awards show couldn’t help but include and nominate some of the industry’s cutest pets for the Cutest Musician’s Pet award. Although it was a pretty tough competition between four dogs, a cat and a pet pig, Ariana Grande’s fur baby, Toulouse, managed to take home the big prize.

5. Marjory Stoneman Douglas Shooting Survivor spreads awareness for March for Our Lives.

In the middle of the show, right before Eminem took the stage, Big Sean took a moment to introduce a survivor named Alex who let everyone know that students around the country will continue to make sure politicians hear their voices. Shortly after his powerful statement, Alex went on to spread awareness about the upcoming March for Our Lives, which takes place on March 24th all around the world.

6. G-Eazy and Halsey are #CoupleGoals.

G-Eazy and Halsey took the stage to introduce Charlie Puth‘s performance, and they were so attractive next to each other that it was almost too much to handle.

7. Asahd Khaled interrupts his dad’s acceptance speech.

Asahd Khaled also made it onto our list of best moments thanks to his first-class upstaging skills. When DJ Khaled got up on stage to accept the award for Best Hip-Hop Song for “Wild Thoughts”, Asahd interrupted his dad in the cutest way possible and earned himself one of the biggest rounds of applause of the night.

8. Taylor Swift debuts “Delicate” music video.

Another one of our favorite moments was when Taylor Swift made up for her absence at the ceremony by premiering her video for “Delicate.” Tay introduced the video right after giving a thank you speech via video for her Female Artist of the Year win, and while we missed seeing her at the actual show, the fun and quirky music video proved to be a welcome replacement.

9. N.E.R.D. performs “Lemon” with glittery dance crew.

Another unforgettable moment from the awards show came when N.E.R.D. closed out the show with a performance of “Lemon,” accompanied by a crew of stunning, glitter-covered female dancers. Rihanna was unfortunately not present to sing her part of the song, but, lucky for us, the backup dancers, lead by video star Mette Towley, did an incredible job at making up for Riri’s absence.

10. Chance the Rapper’s Innovator award speech.

Last but not least, one of our favorite artists of all time is Chance the Rapper, so seeing him win the Innovator award just made our night! Can we just give him all the awards forever and call it a day?
