Gay YouTuber Attempted Suicide Multiple Times After Mental Disorder Diagnosis

YouTube stars are no strangers to opening up about personal issues, and while LGBTQ advocate Hartbeat lets her viewers in on tons of personal details about her life, she’s been keeping some things secret for years.

“Hey, my name is Hart and I am schizophrenic…” the 27-year-old emotionally started a recent video. “I got diagnosed when I was like 19. It started off as depressive episodes and stuff and turned into something more…I’ve tried to commit suicide three times in my lifetime, unsuccessful each time.”

The outspoken YouTuber was hesitant to tell fans about her mental disorder because of the stigma attached to it, but decided it was time to be honest about her trials and tribulations so people know they are not alone.

“I’m dealing with this continuously,” she said with tears in her eyes.

But even though Hart is now ready for people to know about her inner demons, she doesn’t “want to be the advocate for this s*it,” because she isn’t an expert and is still trying to figure everything out herself.
