Harry Styles Makes $42k Donation to Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund
Need more proof that Harry Styles is a perfect prince who must be protected at all costs? Look no further that his massive donation to the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund. The movement was started as a way to stand in solidarity with those who have been sexually mistreated in Hollywood in the past and prevent sexual abuse from happening in the future. It also pushes for women to have equal opportunities, pay, etc., as men.
According to its GoFundMe page, “Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund will provide subsidized legal support to women and men who have experienced sexual harassment, assault, or abuse in the workplace and while in pursuit of their careers. The Fund will ultimately be housed at and administrated by the National Women’s Law Center, an established, national women’s rights legal organization.”
Daily Mail observed records that show the “Sign of the Times” crooner donated $42,631 to the movement in late August. Harry is just one of nine male celebrities to donate over $40,000 to the Defense Fund. The others include prominent men such as Seth Meyers, Steven Spielberg and John Legend.
The British crooner raised over $1.2 million for various charities, including Black Lives Matter, GLSEN and March for Our Lives, as part of the Treat People With Kindness campaign while on his solo world tour from 2017-2018. The $42k donation came from the ticket and merchandise sales of his Los Angeles concert in July.
“Visit the merchandise stand at each Harry Styles Live On Tour date for an exclusive Treat People With Kindness hair tie set,” fans were told on his website during the tour. “All of Harry’s profits from these purchases, as well as a portion of ticket sales, will be donated to various local charities from his tour stops around the world.”
Taylor Swift donated $100,000 to the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund back in January.
