Harry Styles is in the Running to Play the New James Bond on the Big Screen
Styles. Harry Styles. Has a nice ring to it, don’t you think? The One Direction singer proved he can seriously act when he appeared in Dunkirk last summer, and it looks like more than just Directioners took notice of his skills. Lee Smith, the man who edited the last James Bond movie, Spectre, immediately mentioned Hazza’s name when he was asked about which young actor could take over for Daniel Craig when the time comes.
He told the Daily Star, “Harry could do it. If they wanted a younger Bond then why not? He has got it. Harry is really good and he can go all the way. He is an exceptional talent and a complete natural on camera.”
Famed cinematographer Christopher Nolan, who directed Dunkirk, is rumored to be directing the upcoming James Bond flicks and Lee says this could open the door for the 23-year-old.
The film editor said about his performance in the blockbuster flick, “You would have thought you were dealing with a guy with many years of experience. You would never know that was his first film. If he wants to act, I cannot imagine he would not have a great future.”
Daniel Craig has already signed on to play the action hero in the upcoming movie, Bond 25, which is slated to come out in 2019, so the new James Bond probably wouldn’t make his debut until 2022. If this timeline is correct, the British crooner would be 28 when the film came out, making him the youngest actor in history to play James Bond. To give you some perspective, Daniel is 49 and started playing the character back in 2005 when he was 37. So… Harry would be WAY younger.
The “Kiwi” singer says he “started acting when [he] was younger in school” and has “always been a massive fan of movies.” Also, his performance in Dunkirk was quite commendable, especially for someone making their big-screen debut. We’d be willing to bet BIG bucks he’s not done being a movie star just yet.
